El
pasado 8 enero hizo dos años que viajé a Irlanda, mi segunda casa, por primera
vez. Y por ello me gustaría enseñaros, poco a poco, post a post, todo lo que la
isla esmeralda puede ofrecer.
He
tenido la gran suerte de viajar por Irlanda de Norte a Sur y de Este a Oeste.
Yo me enamoré de su naturaleza, de sus planicies y montañas, de sus ciudades y
pueblos, de su cultura, de su estilo de vida y por supuesto de su gente. Así
que hay muchos lugares y cosas que mostrar de este fantástico país.
Empezaré
por el paisaje natural irlandés más emblemático, del cual he podido disfrutar
en 2 ocasiones durante mi estancia en Irlanda, y que si viajas a esta tierra no
te puedes perder: CLIFFS OF MOHER.
Los acantilados de Moher se
encuentran en el límite suroccidental de la región de El
Burren, cerca de Doolin,
en el condado
de Clare de la República
de Irlanda.
Aunque aparezcan velados por la niebla o azotados por
los vientos del océano, los acantilados de Moher resultan sobrecogedores.
Los acantilados se
elevan 120 m sobre el
océano Atlántico en el punto llamado Hag's
Head y
se extienden a lo largo de 8 kilómetros hasta alcanzar una altura de 214 m. La
escarpada superficie rocosa da abrigo tanto a gaviotas como a pájaros bobos.
La
torre de O'Brien es una torre circular de piedra que se encuentra
aproximadamente en la mitad de los acantilados. Fue construida por Sir Cornellius
O’Brien en 1835 como mirador para los cientos de
turistas que acudían al lugar incluso en aquel tiempo.
Los
acantilados son una notable atracción turística, por lo que existe un centro de
visita y un estacionamiento en el lugar, además de una “meditation room”. Hay
un sendero que recorre los acantilados en toda su longitud.
Los
acantilados de Moher aparecen como los "Acantilados de la Locura" en
la película de 1987 La princesa prometida, en el 2009 sirvieron
de locación para rodar la película Harry Potter y el misterio del Príncipe,
y el 2011 fueron
utilizados por el grupo de rock estadounidense Maroon 5 para grabar el vídeo del
sencillo "Runaway".
Para
visitar los acantilados en aconsejable llevar calzado cómodo, ya sean botas
planas o calzado deportivo, y llevar ropa de abrigo en invierno (abrigo gordo,
guantes, gorro, bufanda), y en verano una buena cazadora que también abrigue ya
que en los acantilados siempre sopla el viento y hace frío. Sin olvidar nunca
en un país como Irlanda el chubasquero. Si sois chicas o chicos con pelo largo
os aconsejo que llevéis el pelo recogido para más comodidad con el viento.

Two years ago I traveled to Ireland (my
second home) for the first time. I'd like to show, gradually, post to post,
whatever the emerald island can offer.
I've been lucky enough to travel to
Ireland from North to South and from East to West. I loved nature, its plains
and mountains, its cities and towns, their culture, their lifestyle and of
course its people. So there are many places and things to display this
fantastic country.
I'll start with the most emblematic
Irish natural landscape, which I could enjoy on 2 occasions during my stay in
Ireland, and if you came to this earth you can not miss: Cliffs of Moher.
The Cliffs of Moher are located on
the southwestern edge of the Burren region, near Doolin, County Clare in
Ireland.
Although appearing veiled in mist or
windswept ocean, the cliffs of Moher are overwhelming.
The cliffs rise 120 meters above the
Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head and extend over 8 km to a height of 214 m. The
steep rocky surface gives shelter gulls.
O'Brien's Tower is a round stone
tower that is about half of the cliffs. It was built by Sir Cornelius O'Brien
in 1835 as a lookout for the hundreds of tourists who came to the place even at
that time.
The cliffs are a notable tourist
attraction, so there is a visitor center and on-site parking, and a "meditation
room". There is a path that runs along the cliffs along its length.
The Cliffs of Moher appear as the "Cliffs
of Insanity" in the 1987 film The Princess Bride, in 2009 served as a
location to shoot the film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and 2011
were used by the rock group American Maroon 5 to shoot the video for the single
"Runaway".
To visit the cliffs advisable to
wear comfortable shoes, whether flat boots or sports shoes and dress warmly in
winter (thick coat, gloves, hat, scarf), and in summer a good jacket as on the
