VIAJES: NOTTING HILL, LONDRES / TRAVELS: NOTTING HILL, LONDON

English version:

In October 2014 I was fortunate to travel to London for the first time and I could enjoy, among other things, a Saturday morning in one of his famous neighborhoods: Notting Hill.

Notting Hill is a neighborhood located between the districts of Kensington and Chelsea in central London. It is located in the western part of the city, near the northwest corner of Hyde Park.

A neighborhood with idyllic streets of Victorian houses. With white and colorful walls, chic shops and cafes.

The neighborhood is known for 2 things celebrating at:

- The Notting Hill Carnival. It is held annually in August and is considered the biggest carnival in Europe. Carnival celebrates Caribbean culture, centered on colorful parades.

- Portobello Market. Named after the street where it is located, Portobello Road. The market is a prime tourist attraction. Portobello is possible to find a variety of items, among them antiques. The best day to visit the market is Saturday morning, the day the stalls invade the streets and the market reaches its peak.

To get to Notting Hill and Portobello Road, the best option is the subway. The best stops are Notting Hill or the Ladbroke Grove.

But it is quite true that the Notting Hill shot to worldwide fame with the romantic comedy that bears his name, and is starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. If you visit Notting Hill you can see the front of the house in which lived Hugh Grant in the film, and even visiting the library genuine Notting Hill, from which inspired the film and in which the protagonist works.
